The Arts and Science of Self Publishing Faqs Condensed
Q: How many pages are in the e-book?
A: 115 pages, 5.5 x 8.5” trim size, Garamond 11 and Gotham.
Q: What’s the ISBN for the book?
A: E-book ISBN: 978-0-9973262-3-9.
Q: Can I see a sample of the book?
A: Sure. I’m an independent author so I have full control to do what the heck I want with my writing ;). The first chapter will be provided when you subscribe to the newsletter.
Q: Is there a paperback edition available?
A: Coming soon. It’s scheduled to be released Amazon 03/20/2018.
Q: Is this for fiction or non-fiction writers?
A: The methods in this book can be applied by fiction/non-fiction writers, bloggers, or anyone new to writing books.
Q: Will this help me with Kindle publishing, or to publish a paperback?
A: Both. There’s a section that teaches you how to publish your e-book through Amazon KDP. There’s also a section that teaches how to create a paperback book through CreateSpace.
Q: I want to write a book, but not sure what to write about?
A: That’s fine. Chapter One, “How to carve out your niche” will help set you on the right trajectory for discovering what to write about.
Q: Can you really make money with Kindle books?
A: Yes. How much is contingent on quite a bit of variables and there are advertising laws in place (Federal Trade Commission) that rightfully protect consumers from hustlers, scammers, and deceptive practices. While I believe in the methods in my book, and really-really want you to make a ton of money, I can’t make any income claims. However, I will guarantee that by implementing the methods in this book you’ll produce a high quality book and thus increase your chances of selling more books.
Q: Do I need to purchase any of your other products in order to write a book?
A: Nope. At the time being there are no upsells or OTOs. The course includes everything you need to know in order to write and self-publish your own book. I do offer personal one-one-one coaching services but that’s of course optional.
Q: What makes your book different from the hundreds of other self-publishing books on the market?
A: My book prepares you for creating BOTH e-books and paperbacks for maximum exposure. Amazon KDP is discussed, but so are other e-book distribution services like Smashwords, Kobo, and iBooks. As for getting your book into print, CreateSpace is discussed along with Lightning Source (Ingram), Lulu, and Blurb – most self-publishing guides just focus on Amazon KDP and/or CreateSpace, but my guide lists many more options.
Q: Can I hire a cheap ghost writer to write my book?
A: The subtitle of this book is “Simple Guide to Self Publishing World Class Books.” If you want to publish something of quality that will make readers happy, then do you think you can do that by hiring a cheap ghost writer? Don’t think so. No worries, I’ll reveal steps on how to manage and improve your writing process.
Q: I already wrote a book but the sales dwindled. Is it possible I can use your book to help revitalize sales?
A: Yep. Chapter 5, “Tactical Amazon Promotion”, Chapter 6, “Raging Reviews”, and Chapter 7, “Event Hosting” all provide book marketing strategies that can help revitalize book sales.
Q: What files will I get when I purchase the book?
A: You’ll get two files: PDF and Epub. The Epub format is the defacto standard for the e-publishing industry as it’s developed and recommended by the International Digital Publishing Forum (IDPF). You’ll be able to view the ebook in a Kindle, smart phone, or computer. To view an Epub from your smart phone, download the Epub Reader. To view an Epub on your computer install the EpubReader Add-on for Firefox, or the Simple Epub Reader on Google Chrome.
Q: Can I ask you questions after I purchase?
A: Sure, but before you do, do me a favor. Double check “The Art and Science of Self Publishing” before you fire the email. It has a carefully curated index just in case you want to get more specific. Perhaps the answer is there already. If not, then shoot me a detailed email explaining the issue. The shorter and more to-the-point the email is increases the chances of me getting back to you sooner.
Q: How much money will I need to spend in order to write my book?
A: Hate to say it, but here it goes… it depends. SIGH. Now that I got that out of the way, here we go. If you’re technical then you may be able to handle the intricacies of typesetting and book cover design so you’ll pay nothing out of pocket.
However, I recommend outsourcing these tasks as time is money, and producing a world class book cover is difficult without the expertise. The general consensus in the self-publishing industry is that it costs somewhere around $200-$300 to publish a book. Regardless of which route you take proper resources will be provided so you’ll be covered either way.
Q: What’s the refund policy?
A: Give the book a solid read and if for some reason you’re not satisfied then request a refund within 30 days of purchasing.
